Channel Catfish: Fair. A few fishermen report success using poultry liver, night crawlers or prepared baits. Most are in the two to five pound range, but some are larger. Crappie: Poor to fair. Crappie have left the shoreline during the day. They can be found near shore in the early morning and early evening. They can be located near cover in deep water during the day by drifting. Most are small 6-8 inches. Live minnows or jigs are the best baits. Flathead Catfish: Two reported over forty pounds so far this summer. Several smaller ones have been taken. Most are caught at night on goldfish or green sunfish. Bluegill Sunfish: Good. Bluegills are abundant near shore and eagerly taking bits of night crawler, crickets or small jigs and artificial baits. Most are less than ¼ pound. Green Sunfish: Good. Sunfish are close to shore and taking night-crawler bits, jigs, tiny lures and insects like mealworms. Most are small, but make good bait for big flathead. Common Carp: Good. Very few fishermen fish for carp, but large ones are available to be caught. Fermented corn, dough baits and night-crawlers are useful baits. White Amur: None reported. Fermented corn is an excellent bait for these fish. A few are taken on night crawlers.
