Report by Sports Cache Bait & Tackle
Water Level: At full pool.
Water Temperature: 74 degrees F.
Turbidity: Visibility 18 inches.
Fish Attractors: Not in service due to vandalism.
Fishing Pressure: Moderate through the week, heavy during weekends. Very
heavy on holidays.
Channel Catfish: Good. Several fishermen report success using
poultry liver, night crawlers and Bee Jay. Most are in the two to five
pound range, but some are larger.
Crappie: Good to excellent. Crappie are abundant at certain
points in the lake. They bite best in the evenings and early mornings.
Most are small 6-8 inches. Live minnows or jigs are the best baits.
Flathead Catfish: No reports this week, but not many fishing for
them. Most are caught at night on goldfish or green sunfish.
Bluegill Sunfish: Good. Bluegills are abundant near shore and
eagerly taking bits of night crawler, crickets or small jigs and
artificial baits. Most are less than ¼ pound.
Green Sunfish: Good. Sunfish are close to shore and taking
night-crawler bits, jigs, tiny lures and insects like mealworms. Most are
small, but make good bait for big flathead.
Common Carp: Good. Very few fishermen fish for carp, but large
ones are available to be caught. Fermented corn, dough baits and
night-crawlers are useful baits.
White Amur: None reported. Fermented corn is an excellent bait
for these fish. A few are taken on night crawlers.
