According to AmerenUE the current lake level is 655.65 and the water temperature 44 degrees. AmerenUE reports heavy generation for the next three days, which will give the lake a level of 655.4 by Friday 12th. Since the recent rains and heavy generation from Truman Dam, the lake became muddy throughout, especially above Tan Tara. The clearest portion is below the five mile marker to Bagnell Dam and in the mouth of the Gravois and Grand Glaize Rivers, but the Big and Little Niangua Rivers are muddy. This past weekend surface water temperatures as high as 49 degrees were located in the back of some creeks and creek arm pockets.
LARGEMOUTH BASS - FAIR
Since the change in water temperature and the muddy water conditions, the bass seem to have spread out more than usual and can be located on several types of structure with several types of lures. In the muddy water, the bass have moved shallow anywhere from 2 to 8 feet and can be found on the creek arm flats and channel swings, secondary points and the points of pockets. The suspended jerkbait has definitely slowed down because of the muddy water conditions and the most productive area on the lake for this bait is from the mouth of the Gravois River to Bagnell Dam. The Lucky Craft 100 and Bevy Shad (Aurora Black, Baby Bass, Nishiki (Clown) and Aurora Gold) and the Smithwick Rouge (Clown, Blk/Silver with Orange Belly, Chartreuse and Gold/Blk) are still producing keepers off secondary and pocket points. The spinnerbaits (White/Gold Blades, Chartreuse/Gold Blades) and the Wiggle-Wart (Crawdad, Firetiger and Chartreuse) are producing some nice keepers off the creek arm flats and points. Since the warmer weather and slight increase of water temperature the jig n trailer (Blk/Blue, Blk/Chartreuse and Brown/Grn. Pumpkin) has been productive in shallow brush piles on the creek arm flats and behind docks.SPOTTED BASS (KENTUCKY) - SLOW
With the muddy water conditions, the spots have been far and few between. The spots being caught have come off the suspended jerkbait in the creeks arms.CRAPPIE - SLOW
The crappie bite has slowed down since the muddy water conditions and reports seem to indicate the best bite has been minnows tipped with Crappie Nibbles in brush around boat docks in the creeks.Updated 03/12/04

Burton's Bait & Tackle Tournaments WEEKEND THURSDAY
CRAPPIE: FAIR Since the ice went off the lake (3-1) a few people have started to fish for the crappie. Winter structure including deep brush and the docks at the marinas are good places to start. The fish are fairly deep still so start at the bottom and work your way up.
BASS: Poor: No report
CATFISH: Good After the rain last week the catfish have moved up into the creeks and are biting well. Worms, shad sides, or shad guts are all catching fish. The Platte and Little Platte rivers are also putting out lots of fish. The fish will eventually move back to the creek edges near the channels.
WHITE BASS: Some are being caught along with the crappie at the marinas.
WALLEYE: No reports yet but they should start as soon as the water warms just a little. I will report the first fish caught I hear about.

WATER LEVEL - 915.12 Normal Pool 915'
JAMES RIVER Upper 45-50
MAIN LAKE 43-47
Lots of things happening on Table Rock since the rains this past week. Fish are scattered and they are biting from the backs of creeks to main lake points. The backs of most of the creeks warmed up 5-7 degrees after the warm rains.
MAIN LAKE - DAM, KIMBERLING CITY, BAXTER & CAMPBELL POINT & SHELL KNOB
Try fishing crankbaits or spinnerbaits in the backs of the creeks and pockets in the morning. Wigglewarts, Bombers, & Shad Raps, in crawfish patterns or Fire Tiger in the stained areas. Try slow rolling 3/8-1/2 oz. Colorado willow leaf blades in the same areas. If there are too many leaves & debris in these areas try pitching Team Supreme or Eakins Jig around the rock transitions. In these same areas stickbaits will catch fish from main lake points & bluffends to the back of creeks on channel swings over submerged timber. Bites are few and far between but they are quality fish. Experiment with different colors depending on the water clarity, shad patterns work best in clear water, with orange belly-darker baits in stained water. Fish 3"-4" grubs in smoke, or salt & pepper 10'-15' deep on main lake and secondary points. These fish are suspended over 20'-50'. Split shot rigged worms or Twin Tailed Chompers - green pumpkin, or watermelon on jig heads in 15'-20'. The bite is slow but is getting better daily as the water warms up and the fish get ready to move into their spawning areas.
LONG CREEK & JAMES RIVER
The same patterns working with spinnerbaits and crankbaits working better because of the stained water and warm run off that has come in the past few days. On warm days the same baits are working in the Mid James area, the further up you go the water has more color and jigs and crankbaits working best. Try slow rolling 1/2 oz. Chartreuse & White spinnerbaits around visible cover, Colorado-Willow leaf combinations, or Colorado blade-single spin.

GENERAL COMMENTS
Water Conditions: Lots of water! The two inches plus of rain we had a
couple of weeks ago raised Table Rock Lake almost 4 feet. Running four generators all day
during the week. Last weekend, just opposite of what I said, they ran one generator all
day both Saturday and Sunday. No more predictions here!
FLY FISHING TROPHY AREA (dam to Fall Creek)-SHALLOW WATER-WADING-
Despite the heavy water during the week, we have been catching fish. Trip Monday caught
several nice fish on the size 16 red tunghead midge. Couple of the Rainbows he caught were
full of eggs, so they put on a small tunghead egg pattern with a couple of #1 shots and
continued catching some nice fish. First timer and he boated at least 15 fish. Need to use
sinking line or enough weight to get down to the fish with this heavy current. Over the
weekend, with only one generator going, the flashback tan scud did very well. Had three
boats out and this was the best pattern by far. Did catch a few with the red tunghead
midge and a worm brown San Juan. Other than one day late last week, the zebras have not
been doing as well as a couple of weeks ago. Time to start thinking about other patterns,
such as the Hare's Ear and Pheasant Tail and other typical spring time nymph patterns.
Midges are still there but the bigger bugs are on the move and what would you prefer...a
little meal or a larger one? Still seeing various hatches, so, if water conditions are
right, try some dries. Size 16 or 18 Adams, caddis, or mosquito.
STAN'S TIP: With the high water, and the need to hold up lots of weight,
time to change to a much larger indicator than during low water conditions. With the heavy
water, the fish generally strike much harder than low water conditions so the larger
indicator under these conditions will not be a detriment to seeing hits.
