CRAPPIE: Fair: The fish are really scattered so you have to keep on the move to catch a limit of keepers. Still plenty of smaller fish, just fewer of the big ones. They are still in their summer patterns. Fish the brush piles and tree lines in the deeper water. Catch one or two nice keepers and move to the next tree. The fish are in 8' to 24' of water approx. 10' feet deep. This pattern should hold true for the rest of the summer. Minnows seem to be the preferred bait.

BASS: Fair: There seems to be some main lake action starting. Some nice fish are being caught occasionally but not consistently. Worms, jigs, brush hogs seem to catch the majority of the fish. Some are coming on spinner baits and cranks. 8' or less of water seems to be the areas to concentrate on.

CATFISH: FAIR: The crappie fishermen are catching some nice ones in the deeper water on minnows so try the 20' of water areas with your favorite bait. Also other fishermen are reporting fish in shallow water back in the coves. Dip baits are working very well in the lake and in the rivers. Since they are letting some water out of the lake the spillway should start producing some nice fish.

White Bass: Good: The rest of the summer should continue to produce nice stringers of whites. Fish main lake points early and late by throwing small crankbaits in the 2' to 8' water depths. If the fish don't show up on the points just back out to 15' of water and try pepper spoons on the bottom. Watch for surfacing schools. During the day troll to find the schools which are roaming following the shad. The size of most of the fish is excellent.

WALLEYE: Poor: Still no walleye. The wallies have sort of vanished for the time being. They are either buried in the grass of laying in deep water either making them difficult to get to. Use crankbaits or a jig and leech or crawler.

GENERAL COMMENTS

Running water this week!

Water Conditions: Saturday and Sunday, water conditions were great. One generator on Saturday for a couple hours in the morning and Sunday they turned on a low two at 2:00 p.m. for about 5 hours. This week it has come on as early as 7:00 a.m. yesterday to the latest of noon on Tuesday. Little erratic pattern. It has been on as late as 10:00 p.m.

FLY FISHING TROPHY AREA (dam to Fall Creek)-SHALLOW WATER-WADING-

Of course, Saturday and Sunday fished very good. With the low water, zebra midges were working very well, especially the rusty, generally in the a.m. and the ugly as the day brightened up. Sunday we fished the sink-tip line with black woolly buggers or the sculpin. It was overcast Sunday and the black woolly buggers did best. I did catch several with the sculpin until one finally took it (5X tippet. next time it will be 4X). With the water flows during this week, the red tunghead midge and tan flashback scud have been the ticket. Tuesday we had three boats out and they did well on the ugly zebra midge. They had one guest throwing the Big Ugly (ugly looking dry fly) and he caught several with this. Customers coming into the shop have been picking up some fish on hopper patterns, especially yellow. Time to try those terrestrial patterns! Yesterday's trip was in two generators and, again, the red tunghead midge and tan flashback scud were the flies. Have seen a couple 24 inch plus Browns cruising the boat ramp area. Know a few nice Browns have been caught in the hatchery area. Mostly fishing scuds, tan or gray in the hatchery area. were If the horn sounds, don't roll it up. Get yourself to a safe place from the water rise and change to a larger, weighted scud (12) or a San Juan worm, add some split shot, a large indicator set pretty deep depending on where you are fishing, and fish the rise. You don't have to cast out very far. Look where the fish are sliding in toward the bank and fish those edges.

STAN'S TIP: Everyone has had it happen. You put your rod pieces together and can't get them apart. If this happens, and you have tried all the other techniques to get them apart, try putting ice around the joint. Let it cool down for a bit then try to get them apart. This usually works after everything else has failed.

This morning sure feels like fall outside. Air temp was down to 45 deg. Looks like it is going to be a great weekend. With this cool weather the water temp should start dropping and start the fish on a fall pattern. Have had a couple of reports this week that some of the fish have moved farther back in the creeks. I haven't noticed any of the leaves turning yet but it shouldn't be to far off.

BASS: The bass fishing remains pretty good here on Truman. Some of the fish have moved to the backend of the coves. Spinner baits fished in 2'o 5' of water are working on these fish. There are also fish on the secondary points in 6' to 12' of water. Jig and frog and big worms are the best baits here. Haven't heard of any top water bite yet but it has to be right around the corner. Check the shallow tree rows on the flats, this is the time of the year that you can pitch a tube in 5' to 8' and catch fish that are working shad up shallow. With the water temp starting to fall the bass fishing should really start to pick up.

CRAPPIE: Talked to Steve Blake this morning and he said the best bite on crappie right now is on the shallower brush piles. Piles sitting in 8' to 15' fished with minnows right on top of the brush is the way to go in our area. He said some of the shallow tree rows had a few fish in them also.

WHITES & HYBRIDS: This week has been one of the best weeks on whites we've had in a while. Seeing lots of good sized whites coming in. The humps in 8' to 15' fished with spoons has been the best bite. The Shawnee Bend to KK Island area has been the top producer. There have been a few whites starting to pull up on the wind blown flats in the same area. Rooster tails and small Rat L Traps are the best baits on these fish.

CATFISH: Rod and reel has been the top producer this week on cat fish. The fish are still on the humps and night crawlers are the top bait. Humps in 15' of water seem to be working the best.

fishing is really good on Truman lake catching lots of Bluecat 2-5 lbs nothing big good eaters 15-20ft of water mostly on flats of the main channel fishing seems best in the middle of the day 15-20 fish in 2-3 hours a lot of fun . 

Fishing on the upper end of Lake of the Ozarks very slow not much to report

Crappie are moving to the creeks. The water is cooling off so look for the creeks with lots of structure. Fish water 12 ft or more down 8 to 9 ft.When the water cools off the fish will hit a jig. Fish the creek channels using a black and char tube or a minnow on a 1/16 oz jig. Seeing several fish.

Bass are moving to the creeks and being caught on spinner baits in 4ft to 6 ft of water. The back half of the creeks is the best. Keep your boat on the move cover lots of water and you'll catch fish.

Catfish No report

White bass are being caught on the windy points using any thing that resembles a shad. You need wind to make it good look for points with lots of wind and fish it out and find another point. The long shoal area is the best.
