As the summer is coming to an end, many baitshops and reporting stations will be closing. We will still try to bring you all the fishing reports we possibly can. No matter what, we still update lake levels all year. |

Report by Bud's Bait & Tackle
Weather always plays a big part in fishing success as is showing now at Wilson. What few tough fishermen are coming out are catching fish. You must remember that the wind only lets you fish where you can. Therefore you may not land as many fish as you would have other wise.
We have a new specie in the lake that has grown over the last few years, that is white perch. I have talked to fisherman that have kept the bigger ones, and they say that they are excellent eating. You can distinguish the white perch from white bass by the splash of purple under the mouth. They have lighter lines than white bass also. If you catch these, please remove them from the lake. Eat the large ones, but dispose of the little ones. The biologist said they can destroy the food chain of a lake.
Largemouth Bass No report
Channel Catfish are very good. Live bait always a plus but many taken on the old standby stink bait.
Crappie fair around the Minnooka area
Stripers are still plentiful 2 to 6 pounds. Live bait, and using artificial. Over 70 20 to 25lb stripers were released two weeks ago. None have been caught to date.
White Bass are good, when you find them, slab spoons and jigs will be helpful with this species. Watch for the birds.
Walleye fair to good on minnows and worms and trolling are working well to land these guys.

Channel Catfish fair on Bob's Punch Bait (1-800-616-4222) in the channel breaks, anywhere near the feeder creeks in 12 to 17 feet of water. The marina has been holding good fish. Give them a cup or two of beans to get them going.
Crappie fair to good as the water cools the shad begin to use the river and creek channels the crappie follow. Look for the lighter clouds of shad followed by the darker clouds of crappie on and near the river breaks. Lets practice some selective harvest!!!! When they get balled up a few fishermen can eradicate an entire school in a few days.
