We have a new specie in the lake that has grown over the last few years, that is white perch. I have talked to fisherman that have kept the bigger ones, and they say that they are excellent eating. You can distinguish the white perch from white bass by the splash of purple under the mouth. They have lighter lines than white bass also. If you catch these, please remove them from the lake. Eat the large ones, but dispose of the little ones. The biologist said they can destroy the food chain of a lake.

White Bass Poor, Running around with crappie looking for an easy meal.
Crappie Fair, Numbers are good but size is lacking. Lots of fish in the brushpiles in and near the 18 feet deep brushpiles. Look on the river channel breaks for shad, crappie will be close. Be Cautious of the fresh ice. 4" thickness minimum for safety. Pick up a bag "BAILEY MAGNETS" at "THE DOCK" in Topeka or LUNKER in Lawrence. Chat/white and rec/chat were working well B/4 ice-up.

Crappie Fair, Large number of fish, but size is lacking generally. Don't be afraid to try larger baits for larger fish. River breaks and brushpiles 18 to 22 feet deep. A few nice fish being caught in the heated dock. As the lake gets frozen lake-wide this is great gathering spot to help with cabin fever.
